Where is the best place in Costa Rica to vacation at?

We have heard a lot about Costa Rica, and nothing but good things. We are thinking of taking our yearly vacation there this year, but just don’t know what area is best. Please provide any information as far as the best location to visit, along with hotels if possible.

Thank You

Good question. This really depends on what you’d like to see and do. For the best of everything Costa Rica has to offer from nature tours, Canopy Tours, Beaches, ATV tours, Wildlife sighting, Big Game Sport Fishing, and the best variety of nightlife, dining, shopping, accomodations, and overall greatest Costa Rica expereinces, you should plan on traveling to and staying anywhere from the Jaco Beach area to Manuel Antonio.

This region West Central Pacific Coast of Costa Rica offers the best variety of everything! I would not suggest traveling to the North Coastal regions such as Flamingo,Tamarindo,Liberia,Coco or the whole Guanacaste area in general as you will be bored to death after your first 2 days there.

You can get a taste of the best of everything there is to see and do in Costa Rica between Jaco Beach and Manuel Antonio, and easily fill your itinerary.

Hope this helps.

How can I travel in Costa Rica by bus or van for vacations or a trip out of the country when my visa expires?

Trips in Costa Rica by plane are expensive. The buses are difficult to schedule and they don’t speak English. I am an expatiate living in Costa Rica. Is there a travel service that can help?

There is a great new service called vacations via van – www.vacationsviavan.com. They offer trips to Panama and Nicaragua in a nice air conditioned van for very reasonable prices. They speak English too. You night want to try them.

In the line of constructive criticism, and using a little bit of online etiquette, when asking/answering a question, it is best not to use caps – using all caps is shouting or yelling or as the one answerer said, “being loud.” I can see by the thumbs up votes, that I/m not the only one who agrees.

Also, you should use a spell check, because it makes your writing more professional, nothing is worse then seeing a lot of misspelled words. Being as professional as you can, gives your company and you creditability.

Now getting back to your question, it would probably be best if you a website or a link to what your services are … and details of what they include. Meaning – what 4-star hotel? And is that airport transfers from San Jose or Liberia. Or airbus etc etc.

Most travel agents putting together a tourist package will detail what their packages/specials include. Right now it looks like you have a $99 pp package, per night where you get to stay in a 4-star hotel for one day, and that includes a couple of options (volcano and/or park tour) with all airport transfers. Not a bad deal providing there is no surprises like, you have to stay at the hotel for a minimum of 10 days to get this deal.

Is Costa Rica better to tour with some school mates for a week or to study abroad by yourself for a month?

A teacher at my school and some students are going to Costa Rica for nine days during the summer. I was wondering if I should pay $1900 for this or to study abroad by myself for 27 days for $3700 and receive college credit and learn some more spanish.

If you have the time and the money, study abroad for a month. A week is fun- and you’ll travel with people you know, but you won’t have time to fully immerse yourself into the culture. During a month long stay, you’ll have more time to learn about the language, culture, and participate in local events. You might even decide you want to stay longer.

If you’re interested in looking into other study abroad programs in Costa Rica, I write for a new travel/study abroad website called Gulliver (http://www.gullivergo.com). Check out these Costa Rica programs (http://bit.ly/2Debmo). Also, if you need help preparing for your trip (housing, funding, travel info, cell phone & internet tips) visit our "Prepare to Go" section (http://www.gullivergo.com/prepare-to-go) and look up Costa Rica. Hope this helps! Have a great trip!

Car rental in Costa Rica?

If you rent a car in Costa Rica will you be able to drive it across the border into Panama? Are there mountains of paperwork to fill out?
Please state your source of reference. Thanks much!

no rented car can pass the borders… the insurance don’t cover anything outside the costa rican borders. that’s why they don’t let cars pass the border

Would it be cheaper to buy a Costa Rica vacation package from Hotels.com or separately?

I’m planning a short trip to Costa Rica for about 5-6 days. Would it be cheaper to buy a vacation package deal from hotels.com or buy airfare separately online and then book hotels locally when I get there? Where would be a good and cheap place to stay in San Jose and Quepos? What are the availability around this time of year? What is the best traveling method from San Jose to Quepos?

Go to
www.ilovecostarica.com for info…. or

www.truecostarica.com loads of info available.

I saw book a package deal, especially cheaper if you want to actually tour the countryside….there are some wonderful deals for just under $1,000 for 10 days including tours throughout the country, meals and hotels throughout the country. You get to see the sites, taste the foods and stay at more than one hotel/villa! I have friends in San Jose and hope to go down for a visit next spring – stay with them some, but plan to take a package tour also…Have fun!

What is the best transport option from an airport to a hotel in Costa Rica?

I am staying at the Langosta Beach Resort in Tamarindo, Costa Rica, for Spring Break. I am arriving at the Liberia airport. What is the best way of travelling from the airport to the hotel?

If you speak Spanish I would say take a taxi, there are cheap and easy to find, but if you do not then take a shuttle bus, something the hotel provides for you from the airport. Have Fun,it is beautiful!!! I lived there for a year, it is the best!

Barbados VS Costa Rica Honeymoon….?

We are planning our honeymoon and are trying to figure out where we want to go. I have enough airline miles and hotel points to put us up for two weeks. Problem is that we have narrowed it down to Costa Rica and Barbados. We can also do two places, but not those two. Figure with Barbados we could sail to other islands, where as Costa Rica we could experience the rain forest….

Barbados also seems remote and harder to get to, so not as many people = more romantic. Correct me if I am wrong.

HELP PLEASE!!! Thanks

i’ve been to both places, and both are gorgeous in their own ways. costa rica is great if you’re into nature. you can see lots of animals that you can’t see in barbados there – toucans, panthers, sloths (to name a few). the food is really good as well. barbados is actually pretty crowded – lots of cruise lines stop there, and it’s an island known for having rich visitors (tiger woods got married there). it has a lot of british influence, so they still have tea time and such. i prefer the beaches in barbados (pink sand!), and you can snorkel with turtles there. that said, costa rica offers waterfalls, rainforests, the aforementioned wildlife, and also has nice beaches. i would picked based on whether or not i would have another chance to go to the other place later in life. i think costa rica is more difficult to get to, whereas barbados is a cruise stop or short flight away, so i would pick costa rica personally. either way, congratulations and have fun!
