I’m booking a hotel room in Costa Rica. Does "single" refer to the number of rooms or the size of the bed?

For example next to a standard room it will say "single" or "double." Can someone clarify this for me?

it more related at the number of guest in the room. So if you pay for a single room just one person can guest on it, but if you pay for a double room two people can be there.

ussually single and double room are the same (with a double bed or two single beds), the only difference it’s if you go with someone else (and want to share the room with him(her) or not).

I’m going to Costa Rica for my honeymoon and i need a little help here please…??

I will stay at Los suenos Marriott resort on 14th of June and i need to know a few things..

2. What about the weather at that time , and when is the best time to visit Costa Rica
3. Places to go and things to do and how much will it cost
4. Is the shopping there cheap or expensive
5. How much do you pay to rent a small car per day (in colons)
6. Which is better to stay in San Jose or Los suenos or another place in Costa Rica

Thanks So much !!!!

costa rica is a bad country, poor and nasty people may be go to Dominican Republic, Mexico, Guatemala or Panama

Does anyone know if midwifery and home birth are legal in Costa Rica?

I am a midwife thinking of moving there. One resident told me it is illegal, but I found a website of a midwife there. What’s the truth?

It is illegal. But some people from the countryside still practice it.

anyone know where i can sell 5000lbs of dried premium high mt coffee?

I have green coffee for sale off of my farm in panama in the cloud forest bordering costa rica. it is from last season. harvest begins next month and i will have that for sale too. i will make a good price

Call Starbucks.

If you need a special surgery would you go to Costa Rica?

Costa Rica is known for high quality healthcare services at low cost. Would you go to Costa Rica to have this job done? What if all the arrangements are done for you and all you have to do is take the flight?

You bet. If I needed something particular done then why not? There would be no reason not to especially if all I had to do was jump on a plane.

i have book flight to san jose costa rica, where should I go?

I would like to see volcanoes, beautiful beaches, and rain forests. going on may 31st.
would also like to plan a stop in nosara

I was in Costa Rica last year and also before I got there contact a professional company on the web, that help me with all recommendations about visiting the different places. I was two weeks and I visited the following places:

San José (The Capital) for one night. First of all we visited the Arenal Volcano Area/Rainforest, on the way to Arenal we stoped at La Paz Waterfall Gardens and another volcano name Poás, also you can do canopy, hanging bridges, Hiking and etc. Then we move to Guanacaste province, there we went Tamarindo Area that is three hours from Nosara. Near you can go to the following beaches:
Grande Beach, Junquilla Beach, Junquillal Beach, Conchal Beach, etc. The beaches are amazing, beautiful and breathtaking.

Then we flew to Tortuguero Area, there you can find amazing canals, beaches and rainforests. At the end another night in San José, with all this I have tell you will be surround by beautiful views of Costa Rica.

Has any one been to Costa Rica Lately? I am planning a vacation and need some advice…?

We want to get a a all inclusive deal with free snacks, food, activities at the pool, snorkeling, zip lines, rain forrest, Jet Skiing, all of that good stuff. We are hoping to only pay about 800-900 dollars for this trip, then rent a car maybe. Who has had good experiences in Costa Rica?

I went to Costa Rica on a family vacation 3 years ago.

My dad won a contest to stay at a guy he knew’s personal 5 bedroom villa with an indoor pool.

It was really amazing. We arrived in the country at the capital, and it was a three hour car ride to the villa up the side of a mountain. It was kind of scary too because you could look out the window and see like hundreds of feet down the side of a mountain! And all the cars drove really fast, but we drove slowly because we were unfarmiliar with the area.

Thing that we did when we were there….

- Zip Lining hundreds of feet above the rainforest. This was incredible, almost too beautiful to describe with words. It was really scary though, I wouldn;t reccommend it for kids under like 10 years old. If you do this, bring a disposable camera!!!! When we went, it was raining, so we couldn’t risk getting our digital camera wet and ruining it, and we didn’t have a disposable. I wish sooo badly that I could have had pictures from this amazing expirience.

- Rainforest tour on horses. This was really cool, we got to see tree frogs and lots of cool stuff. And being on horses was really cool.

- River tour. We saw TONS of alligators on this tour. It was about 2 hours long, and we even saw some monkeys!!!

Overall, I had an amazing expirience in Costa Rica, and I think it was a great vacation. I hope you have fun there!

What are these beetles in Costa Rica called?

In Costa Rica, I saw big beetles (probably about 1.5" long) on their backs just wiggling their legs helplessly. The tour guide said the males did that to each other to eliminate competition. They would just die that way because they cannot flip themselves back over. What is the name of this beetle?

There’re a lot of beetles that you can find in Costa Rica.

Those big beetles are called: Escarabajo

Commonly known as "Ruedacada" or "Caquero"

The scientific name is: Orthognathus subparallelus

The can flip over ONLY if they use the wings, but I think they’re not smart enough to do it and in the most of the cases, without external help like the wind or other bugs, they cannot flip back over and die after trying.

My husband and I thinking to go to Costa Rica in December for 7 days.?

we want to have adventure type vacation. Based on what I’ve researched so far I’ve picked these places; Guanacaste, Manuel Antonio, Tortuguero, and Montevede. can somebody tell about these spots. what can you do in each place? if 7 days is enough to visit all these places

Guanacaste- northern Pacific coast; nice beaches, nice hotels/resorts, hot but not too humid, great wildlife, Flamingo is really nice

http://www.1costaricalink.com/eng/web/maps/tamarindo.htm

Monteverde- I have never been sorry.

http://www.1costaricalink.com/eng/web/maps/monteverde.htm

Manual Antonio- southern Pacific coast, big national park, nice beach also, more humid

http://www.1costaricalink.com/eng/web/maps/manuel-antonio.htm

Tortuguero- national park, see turtles in the wild, very close to Limon (port where all the ships/cruises come in-very cool), close to Caribbean towns (must see at least once-different feel)

http://www.1costaricalink.com/eng/web/maps/limon.htm

Unless you plan to spend half your vacation on the road, that’s too many places (and too spread out to do in a week). Guanacaste (Tamarindo, Flamingo, Nosara, etc) and Monteverde aren’t far apart (about 75 miles) but Tortuguero is 250 miles from Guanacaste. That 8+ hours of driving on Costa Rican roads. Manuel Antonio is about the same.

I would stay pick one area (Guanacaste/Monteverde/Arenal, Tortuguero/Caribbean side, or Manuel Antonio/Jaco/south pacific side) and spend your week exploring those areas more in depth. Most activities are available in all parts of the country.

Here’s a website that shows the driving distances between different towns: http://www.1-costaricalink.com/distances.htm

If you fly from place to place, you could do all 4. There are 2 local airlines within CR. Sansa and Nature Air. They are safe, but they aren’t cheap. For example a one-way fare may run as high $130/person. But you can get a fare as low as $40 too.

Costa Rica?

Where is a good place to go and stay in Costa Rica? Best destination and hotel?

Oh I’m afraid I have to disagree very strongly with the last poster – Costa Rica not a destination if you want luxury? That is completely untrue, there are a host of luxury resorts, hotels and private villas all across the Pacific coast of the country. To name a few – The Four Seasons in Guanacaste, Los Suenos resort near Jaco, Tulemar Bungalows in Manuel Antonio and the Barcelo resort in Tambor.

Anyhow, I could go on, but I’m not sure that is what the poster is looking for.

I have lived in this country for 9 years, and some of my favourite recommendations would be:

1 – Manuel Antonio and Quepos
For beautiful beaches, frequent monkey sightings, lush jungle and plenty of tourist amenities like restaurants, hotels and villas. Best hotel in the area I would probably say Tulemar Bungalows, but the real way to go is to rent a villa.

See http://www.ricarent.com for a host of villas in this area, from budget to luxury.

2 – Malpais and Santa Teresa
Not so developed as Manuel Antonio, but a charming place. Again, beautiful white beaches and a great traveller vibe.

3 – Volcano Arenal
A must for anyone travelling to Costa Rica. Visiting this volcano is so fascinating – at night you can see it spewing out red hot lava whilst you sip a cocktail whilst bathing in a volcano heated swimming pool.

4 – Puerto Viejo
For a different flavour, this is a great little spot on the caribbean coast.

I have written various articles on Costa Rica which may be of interest to you, see the following links:
