which is a better travel destination for Dec/Jan, Costa Rica or Hawaii?
We are more into adventure vacations as opposed to relaxation, although we do like a little relaxation. As for costs, in hawaii we have hotel points but i realize food will be more expensive. Any websites would be appreciated.
I’ve been to both places and I would go back to Costa Rica again no questions asked. In fact, I’ve been to Costa Rica twice now . . . the second time I was married there. To me, it’s not even really a fair comparison. It’s like comparing a trip to Disneyland and Yellowstone. Like you, I’m an adventure traveler and Costa Rica is arguably the best place in the world for that. Don’t get me wrong, Hawaii is great, but it’s wrapped in a veil of Japanese and American capitalism and the beaches are littered with high rise condos and gift shops selling plastic junk from China. While Costa Rica isn’t completely untouched anymore, it’s far less commercialized than any place the states can offer. And the dollar still goes pretty far there. Plus the travel time is normally considerably less. Either way, have a great trip no matter where you decide to go. Pura Vida !!!

I’m saying Costa Rica. You’ll be out of the country. I’m as well actually going there in December for a week.
