Any place to find cheap flights from San Jose, CA to San Jose, Costa Rica?
Most flights are at $500+. Looking for travel in August.
Travel dates are August 24th-28th.
it depends form where you are traveling
Anyone every gone to Costa Rica by flying through Nicaragua?
The flights are much cheaper from US to Nicaragus, rather than flying to Liberia Costa Rica, and the drive from Managua to Guanacaste does not seem that far. Anyone done something liek this before?
I am amazed that flights to Managua are cheaper than to Liberia or San Jose from your location. You are certainly better off, timewise, traveling by bus from San Jose to Guanacaste than from Managua.
I took the bus from Managua to San Jose last year. I think it took about 10 hours, with about an hour at the border. The Ticabus schedule is below.

Where can I find the cheapest flights from KS City to San Jose Costa Rica???
You should probably look into an American Airlines flight connecting through DFW (Dallas-Fort Worth). American, Continental, and Delta all fly to San Jose, but American usually has the best rates on that service.

I am travelling from UK to Costa Rica Vis Houston in a few days do I need a visa for USA?
I know that for stays of under 90 days in Costa Rica I do not need a visa but what about connecting flights i n Houston? Also I have a very short connection time are there any tips anyone has on how to minimise delays and make connecting flights in Houston?
If you have an UK passport you will have to get an ESTA, with that the USA checks your name against their lists. You should get a stamp in your passport without problems, but everybody entering onto USA airspace and certainly when you touch down on the ground, has to be cleared by the system.
Link to the site to apply: http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/id_visa/esta/ It is free, if there is a site that charges, do not use that.
To minimize delays, fill out all forms completely, follow all directions. Make sure you get out of the plane efficiently and walk fast, so you are ahead of the queue, but if you have not filled out your forms, or misbehave in the eyes of the security staff at the immigration lines, you will have to go to the back of the long queue. Instead of a hotel address you can mention transfer flight, I think you will have to add details like flight number, so have a copy of your paperwork handy in the plane, to fill out the form before you land.
Diverted Flight AC1904 PART 4 – 2nd Landing Attempt at SJO San Jose, Costa Rica
OK, now we’re turning around and approaching from the opposite direction after the 1st aborted landing. Notice the flaps and strong winds. Finally landed safely…only to sit waiting for the fuellers to re-fuel us and for Liberia to re-open. 2 hours on the ground. Finally, Liberia Int’l re-opened and we were off again! One of the best AC crew I have ever flown with. All flight attendants and pilots were excellent, up-dated us every 15 minutes (with what little information they were getting from SJO ATC and LIR ATC), passed out beverages and snacks and left the entertainment system on, all while doing their best to empathize and reassure everyone on-board to the best of their ability in a situation where little information was relayed to the pilots and crew and limited resources.

There is a flight which goes through Port of Spain, Trinidad, then to Panama, and then to San Jose, Costa Rica. Just go to Expedia.com for flight information or TicosLand.com for information about Costa Rica.
