When I bring coffee home from Costa Rica, do I have to ship it to myself?
I have heard that I have to do that. Am I allowed to just stick it in my bag? Or what do I need to do with customs?
Thanks.

I brought home three bags without any problems. You should be fine. If your coffee is from Cafe Britt, you may be able to order it there and have some sent home to you. If you buy enough (usually six bags) you can get free shipping. It’ll save you some room in your bags.
…I’m so jealous. I miss Costa Rica. Oh, and I love the Poas coffee from Cafe Britt.
If Randy hadn’t moved to Costa Rica on Home Improvement, do you think him and Brad would still pick on Mark?

What kind of computer based job can I do from home (or Costa Rica!) that pays well?
I’d like to find a good paying job I can get into after a two year degree. I’d like to take my courses online and have a somewhat easy transition into my career field. What colleges and career paths are out there?

What does it cost to rent a small but nice home in costa rica?
by small but nice i mean 2 to 3 bedrooms, a garage, safe neighborhood, home in good shape, etc.
It depends exactly where you go in Costa Rica.
Things are about a third cheaper in CR than here in the States and a person can live like a King for only $600.00 a month USD!
But – Its just like any other country and the prices will vary with – Location, Location, Location!
In Quepos for example, on the Pacific side you could probably find something like this for around $350.00 USD a month but in San Jose and in some of the upper class suburbs it would probably cost you around $450.00 – $500.00 USD.
Good Luck!

What information do you have about buying property (a home) in Costa Rica at the present time?
I am especially interested in the area close to San Jose but not in the city.
If this is in reference to an email solicitation to "get in on the ground floor" and invest in land in Costa Rica, I would be very skeptical. I get an email solicitation for that about every six months or so
What are some is considered ‘good etiquette’ when staying in a home in Costa Rica?
Bring a small gift, absolutely.
If you’re living there (vs. just visiting for a few days) don’t be embarrassed to ask your hosts what they expect – if they’re accustomed to having strangers in their home, they won’t mind a bit, and it’s better than assuming incorrectly.
My experience with the ‘you’ form differed – my family used almost exclusively ‘Ud’ and occasionally ‘vos’ – but yes, never ‘tu’. It’s easier to just learn one form, and you never go wrong with Ud. My family even used Ud with the baby and the puppy, so hey.
Appreciate your mama’s cooking. Tell them when you’ll be back and what your plans are, pick up after yourself, offer to help the family when you can…some aspects of good etiquette are universal. Understand that if you’re female there will be a double standard for your behavior. It’s okay; this too shall pass. If you travel while you’re in the country, take some photos and maybe bring little things back for your family. They don’t travel within their own country the way we can.
