Canopy tour in Costa Rica?
Can anyone tell me the best canopy tour in costa rica? I have heard that the best ones are in monteverde. What are the best ones called and how much does it cost? My husband and I would like to go on a canopy tour but want to go on the best one available (we have heard that there are quite a number varying in how good they are and price) can anyone help?
thank you
I would concur that the best are in Monteverde but there are good ones elsewhere as well. Sky Trek is probably the best because they do not tie their lines directly into trees so they will not eventually damage the forest. That can’t be said for the majority of canopy tours. As for suspension bridges in the canopy I would visit Selvatour in Monteverde– but not for their zip lines. Wherever you are in Costa Rica do not rely on hotel desk clerks for recommendations, they generally recommend the enterprise that gives them the highest commission. In the high season hotel receptionists earn more than double their base salary from commissions.

where can i find a tour that could take me to costa rica?
i want to go to costa rica as solo and i want to take a tour to go along with from los angeles but i don’t know where to look for it.i want a tour including a airfair.
i also was thinking maybe i could buy a package myself including hotel and airfair and go around by myself when i get there which one is better?
any suggestion?
I would go by myself. That was how I did it on a surf tour I went on and it was great. I check out alot of companies but I ended up using a company called Tico Travel. Mostly because the did surf packages but I think they also do general pacakges as well. When I did my trip I just got airfare and a car and found my hotels when I got there which was no problem.

Is Costa Rica better to tour with some school mates for a week or to study abroad by yourself for a month?
A teacher at my school and some students are going to Costa Rica for nine days during the summer. I was wondering if I should pay $1900 for this or to study abroad by myself for 27 days for $3700 and receive college credit and learn some more spanish.
In my personal opinion, any opportunity to go to Costa Rica is a good opportunity, lol.
The 9 days with your school friends will probably be more fun, but 27 days in an immersion program will give you an unique opportunity. When traveling the tourist areas with friends, you’ll learn a lot about the volcanoes and wildlife, but you won’t have to use your spanish at all. In an immersion program, you’ll have to use your spanish, you’ll learn more about culture, and you can still take time out to check out some National Parks and Volcanoes. The country isn’t that big and you could have both your cake and eat it too. And get college credit for it.
Its almost twice the price, but I figure you wouldn’t ask if you couldn’t afford it. Also, $1900 for 9 days is a little steep. I’m leaving Thursday for 9 days, and I’ll spend about $900 total, including airfare and lodging. Unless they have you booked in a 5 star presidential suite, I can’t imagine what the extra grand is for, unless the students are paying for the teachers costs for "chaperoning", which is possible. Or if they’ve hired a shuttle service full time – that can get expensive too.
Sorry, I’m just rambling now, but I think I’ve talked myself into an opinion. Do the 27 days, get the college credit, and take time to smell the roses while you are there
