San Jose’ Costa Rica Hotels?

I am interested in hearing from anyone who has actually stayed in a Hotel in San Jose Costa Rica. I’ve viewed several on various websites & would appreciate any personal information you can provide.
Am flying into San Jose & need a room for a night or 2 while waiting for friends meeting up with us before we travel to the coast.
Also what would be an interesting/fun thing to so while in San Jose for only a day?

There isn’t a great amount of things to do in the city of San Jose and it can be quite dangerous at night time. I would recommend the Holiday Inn in San Jose. It’s on Calle 11/Avenida 11. That being said, no one in Costa Rica uses street addresses so that will be of little help to you. It’s one of the tallest buildings in San Jose so that will help you to find it.

Downtown San Jose has some interesting museums like the National Pre-Colombian Gold Museum, the Jade Museum, etc.

Avoid the Del Ray Hotel as it is really a brothel. So is the Zona Blue.

Where to get best deals for Hotels and Activities in Costa Rica?

In what season will you be vising Costa Rica? From my experience, the majority of mainstream hotels do not offer student pricing, but they do offer ´green season´ prices which are lower due to possibilities of inclement weather and tourism drop-off. In this particular travel climate, many hotels are willing to negotiate something lower than their usual prices to draw business in off season–I have not found that to be the case in high season.

Definitely do bring your student ID as many of the Tour operators offer student pricing and discounts for excusrions, whcih could save you a significant amount. All of the national parks have student entrance pricing as well–the main draw here in CR, since most of us come here to see the wildlife…

You can look under the terms backpackers, mochilleros, hostels etc. to try and find low cost housing, but you´ll also find the majority of cabinas in Costa Rica are simple, clean and reasonably inexpensive.

What type of budget are you travelling on? While I personally own and manage a luxury boutique hotel in Monteverde, I spent my first year backpacking throughout the country. Perhaps I could make some specific suggestions if you give me an idea of season, budget and destinations–or would you like suggestions?

Are there any hotels in Costa Rica where you can get a hotel IN the rainforest canopy?

Me and my partner have planned a luxurious vacation to San Jose, Costa Rica. Out of the two which one is more gay friendly? Any experiences? Any other suggestions?

I don’t know about those places, but I recommend any hotel in Manuel Antonio…

On the internet I meet Matteo who owns an Aprilia Caponord just like mine. He invited me to stay at his beautiful hotel once I got to Costa Rica. And I ended up staying for quite a while since my bike had to go for a service check and Diana had to arrange to go back to Colombia. Proximity to the beach, if in a costal area, air conditioning, pool/ poolside bar, great resturant and distance/accessibility to attractions.
