Costa Rica Honeymoon?

Going to Costa Rica for my honeymoon in Jan 2010. Not sure how much we can do in 2 weeks. We like adventure so we expect to relax a little but mostly enjoy what Costa Rica has to offer. White water rafting, Canopy/zip line, horseback riding, we want to get to see hanging bridges as well as waterfalls. We def. want to stay in http://www.pacuarelodge.com/php/honeymoon.php but as far as that I don’t know if we should start there or in another part of Costa Rica and end it there. Not sure the distance between places. I’ve heard Guanacaste is nice and Manuel Antonio. Also Tortugero, but like I said my concern is what I can do in 2 weeks.

My Fiance and I want to enjoy the best Costa Rica has to offer. Anyone have an itinerary that would be good for us? Do you think its better to book it on your own or with a travel agent? Any information you have would help.

Thanks!!!

Hi! I am from CR… you will truly see all what you have listed. Don’t worry because it is a small country and you can drive from Pacuare lodge and all the other places. There is also a local company called SANSA, (small planes) that take you to many beaches and areas. I also recommend you fly to Juan Santamaria Airport, the main one. You can stay the first night in a hotel like Best Western Irazu and this hotel and others like San Jose Palacio and Corobici offer shuttle buses to rainforest hotels and beaches. You dont even need a car! The bus service, which is very very safe is called Grayline or Interbus (www.graylinecostarica.com). Dont go into the downtown hotels because they might not be as safe…

Lucky you. Costa Rica is an excellent choice. One of my favourite spots in the world. It would be hard for another person to set an itinerary for you and anyway suggestion would be to play it by ear. Fly into San Jose instead of Liberia (all roads lead to and from San Jose) and you’ll have a lot more options. Pick up the Lonely Planet for Costa Rica and just book rooms as you go, January isn’t a bad time to be looking for accommodations on the fly and you can look for deals that way. It’s cheap there, and hotels will deal with you if they’re not full up for the night, and if you can’t pull yourself away from a place you don’t have to. Spend the money you save on a car for a couple of weeks and the GPS that will save your butt several times on the road. :)

    Have a great trip.

Not sure if this will help you but thought I should pass it along to you anyway.

This web page has about six different Costa Rica Honeymoon packages listed, and each has really neat itineraries.
