I’m booking a hotel room in Costa Rica. Does "single" refer to the number of rooms or the size of the bed?
For example next to a standard room it will say "single" or "double." Can someone clarify this for me?
it more related at the number of guest in the room. So if you pay for a single room just one person can guest on it, but if you pay for a double room two people can be there.
ussually single and double room are the same (with a double bed or two single beds), the only difference it’s if you go with someone else (and want to share the room with him(her) or not).

When they are quoting prices, single and double refers to the number of people that will be staying, or sometimes, the number of beds, not the size of the bed. There are very few single beds in any hotel room.

It is very likely that you will have a full-size bed in your room, even when you book a single room.
