how long to drive to costa rica?

Author: i am going to drive from mississippi (meridian area) to costa rica (around san jose). how long will it take? how many miles (or km) is it? google maps isnt working for me right now… 
i think it would be fun to SEE everything from the CAR, not an airplane window. and i can stop and look at things on the way 
i DO realize how difficult some of the roads will be, thank you, and i am NOT doing this alone.
You spend around a week and over 3800 kms.

Google does not work in Mexico and Central America. See map and directions below. Allow at least 8 hours longer than it says for the inevitable delays. You do realize how challenging that drive will be and how poor the roads may be…right? Especially when you leave Mexico. See sites below for car permit, car insurance and other info. Look at local big book store for the Guia Roji road atlas for mexico and a road atlas for Central America.
