What’s the best part of Costa Rica to stay at for vacation?
I am planning on a vacation to Costa Rica in december. If I want to mainly just stay within one region of Costa Rica to relax and enjoy nature + beaches, what’s the best region? Thanks
I would recommend Puerto Viejo via Puerto Limon personally, as it is tucked in the south east corner between the beautiful Caribbean ocean and one of the countries larger National parks. As well it is less industrialized and touristy then many pacific cities.
Otherwise i would recommend Monte Verde and Tamarindo. Monte Verde is a mountain town with the best zip lines in the world and fantastic eco tours. Tamarindo is a popular beach tourist town on the pacific coast with all the luxuries of western civilization.
Puerto Viejo is more tranquillo but more out of the way. I prefer the Caribbean ocean to the pacific but both are nice.
Either way you will have at least half a day of traveling from the San Jose Airport

My father used to rent condos in Playa Del Coco (or something like that) I’ve been there a few times and it is very beautiful.
Unfortunatally he passed away a short while ago, and I’m not sure weather or not my step mom is still renting them.

Costa Rica is a small country it doesn’t take long to get to beaches no matter where you stay.

Hi!
It really depends on where you fly into.
Let’s say if you fly into San Jose, I’d recommend going to Arenal, the active volcano place, it’s amazing and then heading to Manual Antonio. Again, it will also depend on the length of time you’re here.
If you’re flying into Liberia, go to Arenal and then head towards the Gaunacaste region!
Hope this helps,

Lots of choices. Jaco Beach and area for one. Guantecaste in the far north-west is another choice. I would pick the Pacific side rather than Atlantic.
